MAMAdesigner – my big project for 2018

I closed 2017 with big plans for 2018, so if 2018 is actually here, it’s about time to start transforming words into deeds. And here it is: my brand new big project – MAMAdesigner. It’s a blog, a brand and my own idea for myself. And I’m gonna tell you more about it right now.

Idea

As you can read (only in Polish) on MAMAdesigner first blog post, I’m a designer since 2005 and a mum since 2016. And I’m constantly trying to bring together those two roles. It’s the hardest task in my life and I was feeling I’m not doing it right. I started to think and came up with this idea: I will start a blog about me (the designer), being a mum – if I find topics on my new blog I will find the way how to be a mother and the designer at the same time, without losing contact with my child or the design. Simple.

After making some preparations at the end of 2017 I started to feel it’s the best idea I could ever get. In one day I’ve written a huge list of topics – one for every week till the end of 2018! And I felt so excited. Suddenly everything was so clear and easy: I have to start putting value to all the projects I’m doing with, or for my daughter! She’s my boss now, I design for her. And you know what? I have simply started to see that my beloved game design is so close to designing for children, it’s almost the same thing! 😉

So here I am – the mum, the designer, the MAMAdesigner. With new energy, with huge enthusiasm, with hope and fresh ideas I’m ready to change words into deeds in 2018.

Website and social media

I know that when you want to do something perfect you can end up with nothing done at all. So I choose not to be perfect this time. I asked my husband End3r for help with installing WordPress template for my MAMAdesigner website (it’s a lovely Loose template by Fat Themes), I prepared the logo, made a list of topics, wrote the first post and started the project – MAMAdesigner website and social media accounts for it (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).

Logo

The logo is simple – it is a typographic one with big pale yellow dot at the end – as a color accent. I chose this color, because it’s the color theme in my daughter’s room, and every time I’m thinking about any design for her I can see yellow, white and grey (and black sometimes).

Plans

I’m going to publish one post per week as I have a completed list of topics. I chose Tuesdays for the publication day. I want to put some freebies, inspirations and maybe DIY on MAMAdesigner. Currently I’m working on my first freebie – actually it’s done already and I have to take some pictures and polish the post itself. So – I finally do what I’m supposed to be doing.
