May 2019
Hi, it’s me again! It’s been a while since my last monthly report… but I’m here and I’m gonna write about cool stuff again.
For those of you, who are new here I just want to say hello, and explain myself – my monthly report is kind of monthly summary of my to-do list. Each month I’m writing what I did as a graphic designer, blogger, and myself. You can expect a lot of design stuff, especially related to games, kids, and a bit of a lifestyle. Just read what’s below and you will get the idea if you want to stay or not. Please, stay – it will be great! 😉
First of all I would like to share with you what happend since last monthly report, published in July 2018! (I can’t believe it…) Well, the biggest change is that I’ve quit my full-time job as a UI Designer in Samsung. I still think it’s a bold move, because I don’t know what’s gonna happen in next few months with my account balance but it was about time. After six years together I felt I need the change. So I ended up at my home doing a lot of design stuff – mostly my own projects but I’m not saying no to freelance jobs.
Second thing is I am on a therapy. It came up I had some kind of depression after giving birth to my child and I couldn’t deal with it on my own. I’ve decided to visit a specialist and I’m on therapy for almost 9 months since then. I feel like I’m doing quite nice progress there but it’s still a lot to do.
Other things – my daughter has moved from the nursery to the kindergarten and she’s doing awesome. I was the judge at js13kGames 2018 and it was crazy – I’ve played over 270 games in 3 weeks. Me and my family spent a lovely time on my brother’s wedding. I had an amazing year with my MAMAdesigner blog. I’ve started to learn calligraphy. We’ve celebrated second birthday of my husband’s independent gamedev studio – Enclave Games. He has started his TATAdeveloper project and I’m so happy it was inspired by my MAMAdesigner blog 😉 I’ve met coolest people and I had a lot of great time and it all was since my last monthly report.
Now it’s time to get a closer look at last month.
May 2019 monthly report
May was the first month after quitting Samsung and it was simply different from what I’ve usually deal with. Below I’m gonna describe what happend in those areas: Enclave Games and design, MAMAdesigner, TUTSY and Other projects and private stuff.
Enclave Games and design
Since I’m having more time to do my own projects I’ve found the pleasure helping my husband in Enclave Games.
– I’ve helped with Gamedev.js Warsaw Meetup #12. I really want to join the event as a speaker but I don’t feel I’m quite there yet. End3r is in favor so maybe soon…
– I’m helping with js13kGames 2019 preparations. There is a lot of stuff to do. There may be a new website layout this year. Everyone who’s involved works so hard. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
– We’re working on some cool stuff for NeuroshimaHex.pl. More info soon.
– I did a tiny game graphic design for #meditationgames and right now End3r just finished coding. You’ll be able to play our game on 30th of June (it’s my birthday!)
It’s funny, because as End3r convinced me, I’ve used a character from my “secret game project”, known as “RB game project” as well. So I could say it will be some kind of a game demo of my 10-years old never ending project – it’s huge and I think I’m proud of it.
– I’ve also helped with new graphic assets for the second version of Enclave Phaser Template – this time it’s all about Phaser 3.0 and it’s still gonna be free!
MAMAdesigner
Last month I’ve published 4 new blog posts. I wrote about cool kids bedding and prepared 3 awesome freebies: wild animals posters, wrapping paper print for Mother’s Day Gift and garland with clouds for Children’s Day.
I’m proud of the website statisctics – over 900 Unique Users and over 1600 Page Views.
For me and my daughter it was the best time – we spent amazing Mother’s Day – she gave me a package of little stones as a gift, which I asked, because I neeed them for my new project 😉 I’ve prepared sweet party for her since in Poland it was Children’s Day at first of June.
TUTSY
I still didn’t find the time for my beloved blog about design and photoshop tutorials. I’ve published 11 new posts since last monthly report but I didn’t write over 30. I’m about to get back to writing on TUTSY again. I don’t want to give up yet, especially the page stats are preatty nice – about 1k UU each month since last monthly report and it’s constant – I don’t want to loose it.
Other projects and private stuff
We’ve spend nice long weekend at the begining of the month – we took couple walks and invite a friend for evening with board games and pretty bad pizza (little pro tip for you – don’t use breakfast paper instead of baking paper – it will melt into your pizza dough).
I baked a lot, because despite of that ruined pizza at the begining of the month I’ve felt some cooking flow during the whole month.
We watched last episode of GoT and to fill the emptiness we’ve started to watch Charnobyl.
I’ve enjoyed my first day at work on my own and felt so good about this whole new situation I even bought a new desk for myself. I’ve quickly realized it was the best spontaneous decision I ever made. 😀
As I’m feeling some kind of freedom right now I’m more open to meet people. During the whole month I met my friends and spent wonderful time together, for example I’ve tried Bubble tea for the first time in my life, I had nice evening with music from old times, I’ve laughed a lot and ate delicious dumplings.
I’ve also got more energy for creative stuff like photo challenge (you can see my photos for the challenge on my Instagram feed here: 1 – my first cinemagraph ever!, 2, 3, 4, 5), caligraphy practice, even sewing (soon I will tell you more).
I convinced my husband to take a therapeutic massage at my physiotherapist – she’s the best, I recommend her to all my friends.
We’ve took part in Family workshop at my daughter’s kindergarten – we made our first forest in the jar! It was awesome. 😀
And last but not least – we’ve been to Hangar 646 in trampoline park. It was the Mother’s Day event organized by our property manager. We went there with our daughter and we had an amazing time, even though I was scared when my 3-years old child went all the way up to a huge slide and slide all the way down by herself… and she liked it a lot!
As you can see – it was a busy month. Do you want to share yours with me? Drop me a line, I will be happy to hear from you. 🙂
