My awesome games – Flood Escape
When I hear people saying “oh, you were on the maternity leave, you surely had a lot of rest”, I’m like “yeah, well, I will punch you in your face” 😜 That’s because I didn’t rest, and even more – I’m completely exhausted after a first year with our lovely baby daughter.
Before the baby I thought I will be able to work on some personal projects during that break. I’ve got one secret project I’m thinking about since studies (let’s call it RB)… but the reality is so rough. I didn’t even had the time to think about this secret RB game last year, and all my design work was two games – two games during a whole year (!), and one of them is very small… 😉 That’s the reality.
But the second one – the second one is really awesome. I can be happy I was able to design it during maternity leave, or should I say during my baby’s nap-time 😉
The Flood Escape
And I’m so proud I can present you the Flood Escape game. We built it with my husband End3r. I was responsible for the design, and he did the coding part. At first, we’ve prepared a small demo for this year’s Global Game Jam and we were proud of ourselves we made it in 48 hours (with baby on board and the whole family having flu). The theme of GGJ was waves and that’s why we took “tower building” mechanic and combined it with the flood motive, so we ended up with flood escape game (you basically have to escape from waves, so the GGJ theme is on).
After releasing the demo we took our time to polished the design, build new levels, and add some cool features. We did great job I think, but you know what? Check it out yourselves.
Here are some graphics from the game, and you can play it directly here.
And don’t forget to let me know if you like it!
